Welcome to my website. My name is Elizabeth (Beth) Niedbala and, I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland. I have 35+ years clinical experience as a counselor/psychotherapist and Employee Assistance Program Consultant.* My experience includes work with children as young as three years of age, through the life cycle to adulthood. I currently work with Pre-teens, Adolescents, Young Adults and Adults. I assess and treat a variety of mental health concerns, psychiatric disorders, and have many years of clinical experience treating eating disorders. I have been treating eating disorders since 1987 and have advanced expertise treating Anorexia Nervosa, Severe and Enduring Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge-eating Disorder. Since 1988, I have also been providing Employee Assistance Program services and can help individuals successfully address issues in the workplace.
I also utilize Family-Based Treatment (FBT) to treat pre-teens and adolescents struggling with the eating-disordered behaviors of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. FBT, also known as the Maudsley Approach (Maudsley Hospital, England, 1980’s), is an evidence-based outpatient treatment with the potential for a high rate of success. Restoration and maintenance of healthy weight is only one part of the Family-Based Treatment team approach. Parents are key players in the recovery of their son’s/daughter’s eating-disordered behaviors of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. James Lock, MD, PhD, at Stanford University, and Daniel LeGrange, PhD, at The University of Chicago, are only two of the many university-based clinicians researching and refining the Family-Based Treatment model.**
